What the job involves

College security officers manage the entrance, check ID, help visitors find their way and patrol the campus. You will deal calmly with disagreements, support staff with safeguarding concerns and make sure buildings are secure at the end of the day.

We provide security for colleges including Sandwell College, so you will work to the college’s safeguarding rules as well as your assignment instructions.

Who it suits

College security work is mostly daytime and term time, which suits people who want regular hours. It needs patience and good communication more than anything else. You will spend far more time helping people than dealing with trouble.

What you need

A valid SIA security guarding or door supervision licence.
An enhanced DBS check may be required for education sites. We will guide you through it.
The right to work in the UK and a five year history for BS 7858 vetting.
