The challenge

What actually goes wrong

Gatehouse and access control security officer on duty

The gate is the one place everything passes through. Get it right and you know who is on site, which vehicles came and went, and what left in them. Get it wrong and the gate is just a barrier someone lifts.

Our gatehouse officers work to written instructions built around your bookings, permits and site rules. They check vehicles, drivers and paperwork, hold unbooked arrivals, keep the logs and make sure nobody is waved through because they look like they belong.

Unbooked vehicles

Vans and lorries that arrive without a booking can be thieves, or simply a safety risk in a busy yard.

Goods leaving without paperwork

Loads and materials that leave without checks are the easiest losses to miss.

No site register

If you do not know who is on site, you cannot account for them in a fire or after an incident.

Queues and congestion

Badly run gates back traffic onto the road and frustrate drivers and neighbours.

What we deliver

How we cover it, layer by layer

Every element is planned around your site and changes as your needs change.

Vehicle checks

Every vehicle checked against bookings, with registrations, times, seals and paperwork recorded.

Visitor and contractor sign in

Visitors and contractors signed in, given site rules or inductions as required, and signed out.

Barrier and gate control

Operating barriers, gates and turnstiles and keeping them closed when they should be.

Goods out checks

Checking outgoing loads and paperwork to your procedures.

Traffic management

Directing vehicles, keeping the entrance clear and managing queues at busy times.

Out of hours gate cover

Night and weekend gatehouse cover, with perimeter checks between movements.

Standards

Paperwork that passes procurement

Accreditations, vetting and reporting that stand up to supplier audits and insurers.

  • SIA Approved Contractor Scheme for security guarding and door supervision
  • Every officer SIA licensed for the role and vetted to BS 7858
  • Written assignment instructions agreed with you before the first shift
  • Control room check calls through every shift
  • Gate logs and registers kept to a standard auditors and insurers can use
  • CSCS carded officers available for construction sites

Construction and logistics

Gatehouse cover inside contractor supply chains such as John Sisk & Son, with Constructionline Gold and CHAS Elite.

One clean record

Vehicle, visitor and delivery logs kept in one place, ready for audits and investigations.

Trained on your system

Officers learn your booking system, permits and site rules before they take the gate.

From your first call to officers on site

A clear, managed process, so you know what is happening and who is responsible at every stage.

  1. Talk to a manager

Not a call centre. Someone who knows security asks the questions that decide what your site needs.

  2. Free site survey

We walk the site and look at access, lighting, blind spots and what is worth protecting.

  3. Written plan and price

Hours, officer profile, patrol routes and reporting, set out line by line.

  4. Officers on site

Briefed on your site rules and checked in with our control room through every shift.

Gatehouse and access control: your questions

Cannot see your question? Call us on 0845 388 0348, any time of day.

What does a gatehouse security officer do?

They control everything that enters and leaves your site: vehicles, drivers, visitors, contractors and deliveries. They check bookings and paperwork, operate the gate and keep the records.

Can your officers use our booking and visitor systems?

Yes. Officers are trained on your systems as part of their site induction and work to written assignment instructions.

Do you provide 24 hour gatehouse cover?

Yes. We provide day, night and 24 hour gatehouse cover, with perimeter checks between vehicle movements out of hours.

Can gatehouse officers carry out vehicle searches?

Where your procedures allow it and drivers have been told as a condition of entry, officers can check cabs and loads, recorded consistently.

Do your gatehouse officers hold CSCS cards?

Officers on construction sites are CSCS carded where the principal contractor requires it.
