Door Supervision FAQ

Door supervision FAQs

Common questions from venue operators about SIA-licensed door supervision.

Do I legally need SIA-licensed door supervisors for my venue?

Anywhere alcohol is served on licensed premises and door staff are deployed, the Private Security Industry Act 2001 requires those staff to hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor licence. Using unlicensed staff exposes the Designated Premises Supervisor and the business to prosecution.

What's the difference between a doorman and an SIA-licensed door supervisor?

"Doorman" is a job title; "SIA-licensed door supervisor" is a legal certification. Only licensed door supervisors may carry out front-of-house security at licensed premises, and their licence can be verified on the SIA public register.

How much does door supervision cost in the UK?

Rates vary by location, risk, and shift length. Expect roughly £17-£25 per hour for standard licensed-premises cover, with premiums for short-notice, late-night, or specialist roles. We quote fixed rates per assignment after a risk assessment.

Can you provide door supervisors for one-off events?

Yes. We cover weddings, private parties, pop-ups, conferences, and single-night venue cover. The earlier you book, the easier we can match specialist skills — first-aid, body-worn video, drug searches, or female supervisors.

Are your door supervisors first-aid trained?

All KBG door supervisors hold an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate as a minimum; many hold the enhanced First Response Emergency Care qualification. Body-worn video and radio comms are standard.

Do you provide female door supervisors?

Yes. Female supervisors are available for mixed teams, search operations, and any role where same-sex searching or support is required. Request when booking and we'll build the team accordingly.
